However, the view of the Cincinnati skyline from our balcony from the 9th floor was lovely. Do not expect to see much of the river, however. We had a "peak" of the river from this floor but that.Cincinnati City in Ohio USA

"Bluff Dweller" Indians were the first residents of the area. Later, the Osage, a branch of the Sioux, was the main tribe. One of their larger villages is thought to have been to the east of the present site of Harrison.Pitcher of New Jersey USA
Cherokee Indians arrived around 1816 but did not get along with the Osage. This hostility erupted into a full scale Indian war in the Ozark Mountains. By the 1830s both tribes were removed to Oklahoma.
Some historians contend that the first white men to visit the area were followers of Hernando De Sota. It is more probable that the first white men were French hunters or trappers.Pitcher of New Jersey USA
Harrison was named for Union General M. LaRue Harrison, who surveyed the town site. It is also said that Jesse James and his brother Frank once used the area as a hideout. Most Famous Places in New Jersey USA Pitcher of New Jersey USA

The lights flash red and white. Then red, white, and blue. An air horn pierces the air. A siren wails. Joey Spina, a firefighter in Closter, New Jersey, is perched on the footstep of a fire engine. There's a great new trail that runs for seventeen miles along the north shore of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.  It's called the Ben Cardin Recreational Trail in Maryland and the Michael Castle Trail in Delaware.  It's a paved multi-use trail and is just being completed.  In the middle, around Lums Pond there is a half-mile section that they're still working on and a brand new huge trailhead parking area that looked finished but the access road was still blocked off when I came through. Most Famous Places in Maryland USA

The Baltimore–Washington Parkway, also known as MD 295, is a 29-mile highway that runs southwest from Baltimore to Washington, DC. The road begins at Russell Street in downtown Baltimore and continues southwest to an interchange with U.S. Route 50 and Maryland Route 201 near Cheverly in Prince George's County at the Washington DC border. After crossing into DC, the road becomes the Anacostia Freeway (I-295) and continues for 8 miles until it connects with I-95 and the Capital Beltway (I-495). The northern section of the road is maintained by the Maryland State Highway Administration and is dedicated to Gladys Noon Spellman, a U.S. Congresswoman who represented the 5th congressional district of Maryland from 1975 to 1981.Most Famous Places in Maryland USA

Okay, maybe not the last one...though we did break into the "Gilligan's Island" Theme song (much to my children's chagrin) our 2.5 hour canoe trip for Park Quest #7 up the Tuckahoe Creek in Maryland's State Park by the same name. The water lilies and winding creek were gorgeous with the sun coming through the trees as we answered nature questions while paddling up with the kids sitting on life vests in the middle of the canoe. Only a few near-tippings, but we all stayed dry, and I got a nice arm workout row, row, rowing my boat, gently down the stream. Most Famous Places in Maryland USA
