Maui Beach Makena Beach USA

Maui Beach  Makena USA

Maui Beach Makena USA

The beach is beautiful, the water is perfect but the waves are no joke. This isn’t water you are going to sit and float in. Heed the warning signs that are posted all over. Keep Small children close. My 16 year old son and nephew.Maui Beach Makena USA

It is truly a magical island. On a single island, there is a high mountain-like volcano, tropical forests, beaches, all do-able in the same day.Maui  Beach Makena USA

Makena Beach, one of my fav beaches in Maui. Most of the beaches in Maui, being a small volcanic island, is that the dropoff from the beach is quite steep. Maui  Beach Makena Beach USA

Not so in Maui, the water gets deep very close to the beach.Little Makena, a nudist beach, is just off behind me where the photo was taken.Maui  Beach Makena Beach USA

Some beaches such as those in Australia or the continental USA have a long drop off, meaning you can walk far out before the water gets deep.Maui Beach Makena Beach USA

What did the sunlight reveal?
Mt. Haleakala's landscape is very barren, it looks like the moon. Astronauts actually trained here before their first moon landing. There are also some trails leading down into the craters.
I dont actually recommend hiking down, there isnt much to see and the climb back up is really hard.
It is two steps up and one step down, due to the sand. lol.Maui  Beach Makena Beach USA

Big Beach Little Beach Makena USA

Big Beach Little Beach Makena USA

The area is divided into two beaches known as Big Beach and Little Beach. Big Beach is located south of Wailea near the Makena Beach and Golf Resort and provides a secluded alternative to more crowded beaches in Kaanapali and Lahaina. Big Beach Little Beach Makena USA

Little Beach is a small cove without amenities and no lifeguard. Although state park regulations prohibit nudity, Little Beach is frequently used as a nude beach.Big Beach Little Beach Makena USA

Sliding Rock in Pisgah Forest North Carolina USA

We went as a group to Sliding Rock - it was about a 90 minute ride from where we were staying in Bryson City, NC. You should arrive before noon, as parking does become an issue. It is an incredible experience - and also very cold water!! Sliding Rock in Pisgah Forest North Carolina USA

Just an hour outside Atlanta is a private residential community unlike any other. The kind of place where you can separate yourself from the pressures of the everyday—and spend time with those who matter most.A place that’s Civilized By Nature. A mountain retreat that feels like home. This is Canoe Life. And you’ll only find it at Big Canoe.Sliding Rock in Piggish Forest North Carolina USA

Located in the Pisgah National Forest just north of Brevard, 7.6 miles from the junction of US Highways 64 and 276, is Sliding Rock, one place where you’re invited to “take the plunge” down a 60-foot slippery cascade into the 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool.Sliding Rock in Pisgah Forest North Carolina USA

Waterfalls near Asheville can be even more spectacular to see during the winter months. Leafless trees often make for clearer views. And experience magical icy scenes during winter cold snaps in our North Carolina mountains. Not only are the ice formations incredible, but the absence of crowds make for a very personal experience. Above is Looking Glass Falls, always our very top choice in the winter since it's roadside and easy to reach from Asheville. Sliding Rock in Pisgah Forest North Carolina USA

Summer time means lots of things to lots of folks in and around Cooleemee NC, a small mill town located in the Piedmont of the state in Davie County. A break from school. Mosquito spray. Enjoying a cookout with family and friends. Watching rubber ducks race at the Bull Hole? The Great Bullhole Duck Race and Festival NC USA

The duck race begins at 1 p.m. on July 16, and this year, RiverPark has raised the stakes. It hopes to attract a bigger betting pool on the thousands of little, yellow rubber ducks that will be lowered into the South Yadkin River that help raise funds necessary to keep this beautiful spot open, clean and secure. The Great Bullhole Duck Race and Festival NC USA.

Some people who live nearby confess that they have never been to RiverPark. Now, if you call it that, you are using newfangled terminology, but if you call it the Bullhole, many more might recall visiting the park that borders the Yadkin River where Rowan and Davie Counties meet right by Highway 801. They now have signs sporting both names directing people the couple of miles off the highway to the scenic park at the dam.The Great Bullhole Duck Race and Festival NC USA

Visit Chimney Rock Park this March, 2012 and enjoy a guided hike to Hickory Nut Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River at 404 feet.  Dates of the complimentary guided tour are Mar 3rd, Mar 10th, Mar 17th, Mar 24th, Mar 31st.  The hike is free with paid Park admission.North Carolina Famous Places USA

Although you stand at the bottom and look up at Chimney Rock and think wow...that looks great. Then you hear that the elevator is broken, so you will have to climb 500 stairs to get to the top. Trust me, it's worth the climb to the top. Amazing views all the way up and down the mountain.North Carolina Famous Places USA

There are many US mountain towns to visit, and some of the most beautiful are in the West. Some of these towns have become famous resorts, while others have remained small and relatively unknown. Regardless of how well-known they are, all of the US mountain towns in the West are unique and interesting.North Carolina Famous Places USA

North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing

North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing

North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing USA

One of the first harbingers of spring for us fishermen along the Carolina Coast is the return of lowly puffer fish. Okay, they are not pretty, eat anything they can get their mouths on, average only a pound or less, don’t put up a good fight, or any fight for that matter, but they make up for all of that by providing some of the tastiest morsels that come out of the sea.North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing

When Amanda King arrived in Wilmington a while back to attend college, she knew the Cape Fear coast was a special place and that she would probably be staying. She wound up working at the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher running their surf-fishing seminars and similar projects, and doubling as a fishing guide who specializes in leading ladies and kids on trips exploring the Cape Fear River downstream from Wilmington to Southport from her Carolina Beach home.North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing

Anglers fishing through the winter should expect to see bluefish in the surf, as well as slot-sized redfish that will bite in water temperatures down to 40 degrees. Trout should be in the surf for at least the next month, and bigger bluefish, along with stripers, may pop in from time to time.North Carolina Onshore and Inshore Fishing
